The Cottage has some Hollywood sparkle …
We always hear that charismatic actors are hiding out in the Wilds of Galway…. Well this thatch has a touch of a “007 James Bond” legacy as well.
Actor Walter Gottell - famed as the baddie General Gogol, Head of the KGB was in six James Bond Films: The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, A View to a Kill and The Living Daylights.
Going further back in time he was in The Boys From Brazil, The African Queen with Humphrey Bogart, and just before he died he was in Disney’s Prince Valiant filming in Ireland and many more along the way.
Walter named this Thatched cottage “Studio City” because on the grounds there were a lot of original ruins that could be built up into artist studios - but also Walter also used to live in “Studio City” in Los Angeles. He enjoyed perplexing his agent as to his “real whereabouts”.
